Dr. Sanjay Agarwal graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in and obtained his Bachelors of Science in Human Biology from the University of Toronto. Dr. Agarwal moved to Oakville in September, 2004 and opened his practice, Great Lakes Optometry, in March 2006.
Dr. Agarwal has extensive experience and knowledge. He has done research, relating to intraocular inflammation, with Dr. Thomas Freddo of the Boston University School Medical School. He has published numerous articles in the Canadian Journal of Optometry relating to ocular pathology and has worked at the private ophthalmology clinic, Credit Valley Eyecare in Mississauga.
Dr. Agarwal is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease with therapeutic ocular medications. He is also certified in Laser Refractive Surgery co-management.
Dr. Agarwal is also president of I Care International, a Canadian registered charity that provides free health care to underprivileged people of 3rd world countries. For many years, Dr. Agarwal and students from the University of Waterloo have donated their time and energy for this humanitarian cause. It is his goal to visit as many countries possible to provide free eye care to the locals. He and his team have provided tens of thousands of people with free eye care. Dr. Agarwal is able to speak Spanish and Hindi and is very happy to perform eye exams in these languages. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, skating, studying astronomy, and travelling.
